‘Smashed’, our Responsible Drinking theatre in education tour was launched at Salendine Nook High School on Monday in Huddersfield. Jason McCartney MP for Colne Valley joined us and the Year 7 students to learn about the dangers of alcohol misuse through our powerful play performed by Dean, Monika, and Lee from Collingwood.

Jason was great, following up after the workshop with a talk to the students, and posing for pictures with many of the young people. He was very supportive of our innovative approach and was going to brief the PM that afternoon on the programme at their catch up meeting! It was extra special to launch this year’s tour in Collingwood’s local constituency.

The tour, now in its 11th year, will visit 90 schools across the country visiting West Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lancashire, Merseyside, Bristol, and Humberside. We hope to reach over 16,000 young people this year to add to the 250,000 students who have experienced the project since its inception.

The performance is supported by an interactive workshop, multi-media teaching resources, and evaluation. Thanks as always go to Diageo GB for sponsoring this prevention project for the 11th year.
